"Before the Bell Rings" February 16, 2021

“Before the Bell Rings” reminds me of the quiet time before the worship service begins, in the stillness of the morning light. Although this is only a building and not the Church specifically, it is a dedicated space where important things happen.
This is a simple painting in the ala prima method of completing in one sitting. This painting took about 4 hours to paint. I spent several minutes making corrections. The morning light inspired me as it highlighted this scene. Enjoy!
In times past, many churches had a literal bell they would ring to announce times of worship. I have only attended one church that even had a bell tower and it never rang. I think that would have been nice to hear ringing throughout the town.
Hopefully, we will remain free to worship in our country in such gathering places; however, the kingdom of God is not limited to our particular four walls or the whims of politicians or changing cultures. Our King reigns supreme and makes intercession for His sheep at the very right hand of God the Father. “…It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” (Romans 8:34 NKJV).
A nice article on the topic on The Intersession of Christ…enjoy! …https://www.ligonier.org/learn/devotionals/the-intercession-of-christ/
Peaceful-Sacred Space has always been special throughout history, and I enjoy painting various church buildings. I gravitate to the smaller country settings for my paintings. Having someplace special to meet with our God and fellow believers is a true blessing.
One day soon, the body of believers, i.e., the Church, will enjoy the coming of our King! What a wonderful day that will be!
